Chen Chen, MD, PhD

Chen had a medical training at Shanghai First Medical University (now Fudan University Medical School) and clinic training at Peking Union Hospital in Beijing. Both institutions are top medical training institutions in China. He then did a PhD in France, Postdoc training in USA before joining Prince Henry’s Institute of Medical Research at Monash University, Melbourne, Australia in 1991.

Chen’s research fields focus at integrative and cellular endocrinology. His research has very close link with medical translation with obesity, diabetes and endocrine-related cancers in mind. He is honorary professors of a dozen international universities and research institutions and closely collaborating with colleagues in China, Japan, France, USA and Canada. He is also editorial board member of more than 10 international scientific journals, including Endocrinology, Molecular and Cellular Endocrinology, Endocrine, etc. Since came to Australia, he has been awarded several times by Australian Endocrine Society, Eli Lilly Endocrine Awards, Aza Endocrine Award, and Queensland International Award for his scientific achievements. He has also been frequently invited to give plenary, keynote, and symposium speeches to international conferences. Chen serves Australian Endocrine Society Council, Australian Physiology Society Council, and as vice president of Australian Chinese Association of Biomedical Scientists, Queensland Chinese Association of Scientists and Engineers, and Federation of Australian Chinese Scientist Organizations.
