Dr LI has a PhD in Pharmacology from University of Melbourne and is currently the leader of pre-clinical research program and herbal pharmacology laboratory at NICM health research institute. Previously, he held the positions of Director of the Chinese Medicine Research Group and the leader of the Herbal Pharmacology and Toxicology group at RMIT University.
Dr Li has been extensively involved in medical research over the past decades, in particularly complementary medicine research. He has directed a range of research projects and attracted various competitive and industry research grants in excess of A$4 million. His main research interests include pharmacology of natural products, drug discovery, and traditional Chinese medicines. His work involves investigations at various levels from molecular mechanisms to clinical trials. He has published over 170 papers, and served as editorial board member for a number of international journals. He is also a member of mirror committee of Standard Australia for ISO Traditional Chinese Medicine committee, and an expert on development of standards for Chinese herbal medicines.
