Professor Man-Sau Wong received her B.S in Food Science at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign (1990), and her Ph.D in Human Nutrition and Nutritional Biology at the University of Chicago (1996). Professor Wong is currently the Associate Dean of the Faculty of Applied Science and Textiles, and Professor at the Department of Applied Biology and Chemical Technology at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She is the Associate Director of the State Key Laboratory of Chinese Medicine and Molecular Pharmacology (Incubation) in Shenzhen.
Her research interests include 1) the use of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) for management of bone health and osteoporosis; 2) mechanism of actions of bone protective phytochemicals; 3) hormonal and dietary control of vitamin D and Ca metabolism; 4) mechanism of actions of TCM-derived phytoestrogens in achieving tissue selectivity; 5) drug-herbs interactions between the use of selective estrogen receptor modulators (SERMs) and Chinese medicine for management of menopausal syndromes; 6) the role of microbiota in mediating the therapeutic actions of Chinese medicine. She has published over 140 scientific research papers in the area of Chinese medicine, endocrinology, pharmacology and bone and mineral metabolism.
