Dr. Nak-Won Sohn is the head of SnW Healthy Aging Research Institute in Seoul, Korea. He majored in Anatomy and Neuroscience at Kyung Hee University in Korea and at Cerebrovascular Research Center, University of Pennsylvania Medical School in America. Dr. Sohn has worked on the interdisciplinary convergence research between traditional medicine and Western medicine at the Graduate School of East-West Medical Science at Kyung Hee University, Korea. In particular, he has studied the efficacy and mechanism of medicinal herbs for neurodegenerative diseases such as stroke and dementia. Over the last decade, he has successfully led the graduate school as a dean and it has grown into one of the best graduate schools in traditional medicine research.

Recently, he has founded a research institute and is studying healthy aging of the elderly. The rapid increase in the elderly population has become a big social problem, especially in Asian countries such as Korea, China and Japan. There is a growing need for studying the effective role of traditional medicine in healthy aging of the elderly. He is still trying to find effective traditional medicines for dementia and sarcopenia, the most serious Quality of Life-threatening diseases in the elderly.
