Jia-Hong Lu, PhD
State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicine,
Institute of Chinese Medical Sciences, University of Macau, Macau, China
Dr. Lu has rich research experience on pharmacological study of Traditional Chinese medicine and translational study of neurodegenerative diseases. Dr. Lu got his PhD in Hong Kong Baptist University. He spent 3 years in Icahn School of medicine at Mount Sinai in New York city for postdoctoral training before joining University of Macau as an assistant professor.
Dr. Lu is an expert in neurobiology, cell biology and pharmacology. His major research interests are basic and translational study on neurodegenerative diseases, applying multiple strategies such regulation of neuronal autophagy, anti-neuroinflammation, neurotrophy and anti-oxidative stress for neuroprotection. Dr. Lu will combine biochemical, cell biological and neurobiological approaches, and adopt cell, fruit fly and transgenic mouse models to identify small molecular autophagy modulators or neuroprotective agents from Traditional Chinese medicine with therapeutic potentials for neurodegenerative diseases.
Together with the local and abroad collaborators, Dr. Lu has published more than 40 publications in the high profile journal including Nature Communications andAutophagy, and applied 2 US patents. Dr. Lu’s research work gain wide recognition and won the conference prize on the EMBO autophagy conference held in Norway in 2013 and keystone symposia held in US in 2014.
