Tao Huang, PhD

School of Chinese Medicine, Hong Kong Baptist University, Hong Kong, China

Dr. Tao Huang is the Research Fellow in School of Chinese Medicine, Hong Kong Baptist University. He graduated from Tsinghua University with a bachelor degree in Engineering and got his master degree in Biomedical Engineering from Chinese Academy of Science. He finished his doctoral education in Chinese Medicine in 2017, under supervision by Prof. Zhao-xiang Bian at Hong Kong Baptist University.

Dr. Tao Huang’s research mainly focused on applying computational and experimental approaches to Chinese Medicine, from pharmacology to new drug discovery. He has developed machine learning based tool to predict the biological targets of active ingredients from Chinese Medicine. On top of that, he has developed “focused network pharmacology”, an improved method to elucidate the mechanism-of-actions of Chinese Herbal Medicine. He also applied sophisticated computational skills to study the clinical pharmacology of Chinese Herbal Medicine, to find better biomarkers for precision medicine and to identify novel targets. These works could further shed light on new drug discovery from Chinese Medicine. He has published more than 20 articles in various biomedical journals and served as reviewers of several journals in life science.
